Adoption Process

Thank you for visiting Sirius Newfoundlands, and I am excited you are interested in learning about the adoption process! I take my responsibility as a dog breeder seriously and am very intentional about the whole process especially the future home of the puppy. That being said, purchasing a puppy is pretty straight forward with an initial email, phone interview, downpayment, puppy-pick day, and 8 week pick-up.

Initial Email

If you have interest in one of my newfie puppies, I would love to hear from you via email. Email is easiest for me manage inquiries and a great opportunity for you to slate any questions or concerns. Please feel free to be as specific as possible with your questions, and I will try to accommodate as best as possible. I can be reached by email most effectively through my contact page.

Phone Interview

After the initial email conversation, if you are ready to move forward, I like to schedule a short phone call interview. This simply gives me the chance to get to know your family better and assess if your home is good fit for one of my puppies. I’ll ask general questions about the reason or inspiration for adoption, home setting the puppy will be in, prior dog experience, current availability for training, etc. This also gives you a chance to ask any more questions and learn about me and my business!

Down Payment

I require a 300 dollar deposit to reserve your puppy, but I recognize that life happens and plans change. So, the deposit is refundable up until the puppies are born. After this period of time, the down payment is no longer refundable. I accept the payment through Venmo or Zelle, and this payment will be subtracted from the final price of 2800 for all colors and both sexes.

Puppy-Pick Day

Around the 6-7 week mark after the puppies have had their first vet visit, I schedule my puppy-pick day. This day is an opportunity to visit and pick-out/claim your new puppy before you take them home at 8 weeks. I schedule each family in 30-45 min slots in order of the received down payments. If you want to visit the puppies before putting down a deposit, you are absolutely welcome to still visit! If you have other furry members of the family feel free to bring them too. If you live a significant distance away and can’t make the trip FaceTime or Zoom is also an option as well as another day.

Pick-up

By Pennsylvania law, the puppies cannot be picked up before 8 weeks. I am very flexible and will work around your schedule for the most convenient day. Upon arrival, the puppy will be bathed and played with, ready to make the trek home. There will be a folder of information for you to take home regarding the breed, Puppy Sales Agreement and Health Guarantee, AKC registration, vet papers, and invoice. Any of these documents are available for you upon request. I will also have you fill out some contact information and sign my IPad where I organize the buyer and puppy information. Cash, Venmo, or Zelle will be accepted for final purchase, then the puppy will officially be a member of your family! (Updates and pictures as the pup grows up are always welcome!)

Delivery or a half-way meeting is available. I do not use a third party delivery service but prefer delivering myself. The delivery fee is $.90 a mile plus tolls. The same paperwork as described above is included and part of the arrangement, and except for extenuating circumstances, buyer must be present at the meeting place. I am very flexible with meeting time and place and will work with you to make it as convenient a possible!
